R3 welcomes Jeff Trumbore

Jeff Trumbore is joining R3 in November after completing over 34 years of naval service.  Jeff is a former Navy Special Operations Officer and Master Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Technician with over 29 years experience in joint and multinational military operations across international and domestic settings.  He has held command of two EOD  Mobile Units and served as Commander, Explosive Ordnance Disposal Group TWO.  Additionally, he served two tours on the Chief of Naval Operations Staff, holding the position of Branch Chief, EOD and Naval Coastal Warfare Branch, where he coordinated and led technology assessment, program management and resource allocation for all Navy EOD and Coastal Warfare Forces.  Jeff is also well versed in the Joint Improvised Explosive Device Defeat Organization (JIEDDO). From 2006 to  2008, he was the Division Chief for Technology and Requirements Integration, where he was responsible for development and establishment of processes and procedures to rapidly evaluate, test, and acquire C-IED capabilities in support of forces deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan. He oversaw development of capabilities ranging from airborne national level sensors to hand held explosive detection devices. Leading a team of over 100 personnel, Jeff managed over 300 C-IED initiatives, of which 140 were ultimately fielded to combat and supporting forces.

Most recently, Jeff was assigned to the U.S. Special Operations Command, where he was assigned as the Division Chief for Special Plans and Policy to Counter Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD). In this capacity, he was responsible for the development and assistance in the coordination of a proactive strategy for countering WMD use by state and non-state actors, and countering WMD not under state control. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Resources Management from the United States Naval Academy and was a distinguished graduate from the Naval War College, earning a Master of Arts in National  Security and Strategic Studies.  Jeff will lead R3 tasks in support of the JIEDDO Joint Center of Excellence (JCOE), leveraging his years of experience at JIEDDO to assist JCOE in the development and implementation of a comprehensive joint service C-IED Training Institutionalization Plan.   We are excited to welcome Jeff to the R3 team.

R3 welcomes John Lenox

John Lenox is joining R3’s Washington, DC region in November after completing 28 years of naval service.  He spent the first ten years of his military career as an enlisted diver and achieved the rank of Chief Petty Officer before gaining a commission through the enlisted commissioning program.  He served in a variety of assignments including salvage and underwater ship husbandry assignments, Instructor duty, EOD ashore and afloat assignments, and a variety of senior level staff positions for the Navy and Department of Defense agencies.  During his first EOD tour he led emergency response operations and conducted underwater post blast analysis following the terrorist attack on the USS COLE in Aden, Yemen.  During subsequent EOD assignments he led unexploded ordnance (UXO) range clearance operations at Naval Air Station Fallon, Nevada and served as operations officer at EODMU EIGHT in Sicily.  He served as a nuclear weapons program manager at the Defense Threat Reduction Agency.  Following this assignment he was deployed to Iraq where he led the Combined Explosives Exploitation Cell (CEXC) for Task Force TROY, responsible for technical and forensic exploitation and post blast analysis of improvised explosive devices.   He then served on the Chief of Naval Operations staff and managed Navy-wide Anti-Terrorism Force Protection Afloat and Expanded Maritime Interception Operations resourcing requirements. His final tour was as the Navy’s representative to the Department of Defense Explosives Safety Board.  Mr. Lenox holds a Bachelor of Science, a Master of Arts in Homeland Security Leadership from the University of Connecticut and a graduate certification in Identity Management from the Naval Post Graduate School.  His qualifications include Master EOD Technician, EOD Officer, Surface Warfare Officer, Mixed Gas Diving Officer, Naval Parachutist and Master Training Specialist.

 

R3 awarded contract to support Navy Expeditionary Warfare (OPNAV N95)

R3 Strategic Support Group, Inc., a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB), is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a subcontract to provide program and project management support to the newly-realigned Director of Expeditionary Warfare for the Chief of Naval Operations (OPNAV N95).  Specifically, R3 will provide direct support to the Navy Expeditionary Combat Branch (OPNAV N957).  OPNAV N957 is the primary office for the development, coordination, and defense of the Navy and Joint Service Explosive Ordnance Disposal (JSEOD) input to the Program Objective Memorandum. Additionally, N95 and N957 are the primary representation for the Navy on Counter-Improvised Explosive Device (C-IED) policy, training and material development. R3 will provide EOD, Expeditionary and Special Operations subject matter expertise in executing strategic planning, program and project management, acquisition, business and financial management, and communications support and services to assist the OPNAV N957 and Navy Expeditionary Combat Command (NECC) POM process, Joint Service Small Arms Requirements Integrated Product Team (JSSAR), and analysis of the OPNAV N4 developed Baseline Assessment Memorandum (BAM) for NECC.
