R3 awarded prime contract modification to support NAVEODTECHDIV

Indian Head, MD – 27 August 2012.

R3 Strategic Support Group, Inc., a Service–Disabled Veteran–Owned Small Business (SDVOSB), is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a prime contract modification by Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Indian Head to expand support to the Naval Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technology Division’s (NAVEODTECHDIV) Technical Support Detachment (TSD) to enable proponency of technical exploitation, institutionalization of its Combined Explosive Exploitation Cell (CEXC) support to operational commanders, and achievement of full operational capability (FOC).  R3’s tasks under the modification are an augmentation of our continuing effort encompassing work within the full range of Doctrine, Organization, Training, Materiel, Leadership, Personnel and Facilities (DOTMLPF) functional areas.  It will focus on developing a value network and data mining capability that provides Value Network Analysis (VNA) support for the categorization of TSD tangible and intangible transactions across DOD, inter-agency, and international lines of operation; analysis of TSD’s current and future operations and capabilities; and comprehensive manpower requirements determination, modification, resourcing, and analysis studies and support.  R3’s award is for the remaining base year with an option of six months for a 13-month total period of performance.

U. S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Center for Veterans Enterprise certification

VA CVE

17 August 2012, Washington, DC.  R3 is pleased to announce our certification by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Center for Veterans Enterprise (CVE) as a service-disabled Veteran-owned small business.  R3 is eligible to participate in the Veterans First Contracting Program as well as provide support across the federal government and industry partners with the certification and validation of our business credentials through the VA CVE’s “VetBiz” program.

R3 welcomes Jeff Walker

6 August 2012, Norfolk, VA. R3 is pleased to announce the addition of Jeff Walker to our company.  He retired from the U.S. Navy in 2012 with over 21 years of service as a Special Operations Officer and Master Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) technician.  He served in a wide variety of assignments including diving and salvage, mine countermeasures, and Navy Reserve management.  He completed tours of duty in Little Creek, VA; Whidbey Island, WA; Ingleside, TX; and Ft Story, VA with deployments to the Mediterranean, Western Pacific, Caribbean, Eastern Europe and Baghdad, Iraq. He twice served as a Commanding Officer, once within the EOD community as CO of Explosive Ordnance Disposal Mobile Unit TEN and then within the Reserve Force as CO of Navy Operational Support Center in Huntington, WV.

Jeff served a tour of duty in 2009 as the Future Operations Officer (J5) for Combined Joint Task Force Troy, the counter-Improvised Explosive Device (C-IED) brigade for Multi-National Corps Iraq.  He holds a Bachelor of Science in Zoology from Miami University and a Masters of Arts in National Security and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College as well as completing his certification as a Project Management Professional.  Mr. Walker is also a graduate of the National Defense University Joint Forces Staff College and is qualified as a Joint Specialty Officer in addition to operational qualifications as a Salvage Diving Officer, Mine Countermeasures Staff Officer, and Naval Parachutist. He will serve in a number of capacities to include providing exercise and staff support to Navy Expeditionary Combat Command’s Expeditionary Training Group as well as joining our team at Naval Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technology Division’s (NAVEODTECHDIV) Technical Support Detachment (TSD) that is enabling the proponency of technical exploitation and institutionalization of its Combined Explosives Exploitation Cell (CEXC) to achieve a full operational capability (FOC) as mandated by the Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff via a Joint Requirements Oversight Council (JROC) Memorandum decision.
